Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect the email address you register with, which is used for authentication and account recovery. Password credentials are handled by the platform's authentication provider and are not stored in readable form by this site.

Sighting submissions: When you submit footage, we collect and publish the video, description, date, location, and tags you provide. Submitted sighting content is displayed publicly in the archive.

Usage and analytics: We collect aggregate analytics about visits and interactions with the site to understand usage and improve the archive, in line with the platform's analytics features.

How We Use Information

We use the information collected to operate and maintain the archive, moderate and publish user submissions, calculate community credibility scores, and present the chronological record of sightings.

We do not sell your information. Account email is used only for account-related communications and, where applicable, site-related notifications.

Cookies, Advertising, and Analytics

The Alien Archive displays advertising via Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies, such as the DoubleClick cookie, and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can review Google's advertising and privacy choices, and opt out of personalized advertising, at Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info/choices.

We may also use analytics that store limited information in your browser (such as local storage) to measure traffic and interactions. You can typically control cookies through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

Hosting and platform: The site is built and hosted on Base44, which provides authentication, storage, and serving of the archive.

Embedded media: Many sightings embed video from YouTube. Those embeds are governed by YouTube's own terms and privacy practices.

Advertising: Google AdSense serves advertising on content pages; Google's privacy policy applies to ad-related data.

Your Choices

You can manage personalized advertising through the Google settings linked above and control cookies through your browser. Public sighting content you have submitted can be reviewed or removed by contacting us through the Contact page.
